Our region’s commitment to sustainable practices in our seafood harvest is a commitment to sustaining a healthy marine ecosystem, a healthy economy, and even our regional identity; it extends beyond regulations, and directly into our kitchens. As the developer of the ubiquitous Seafood Watch wallet cards informing consumers of smart seafood choices, Julie Packard, Executive Director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, will talk with KUOW’s Marcie Sillman about our power as consumers and cooks, and our ability to support the long-term viability of the marine ecosystem. Following a discussion and accompanying Q&A (lasting about 45 minutes), Belle Clementine Chef and Owner David Sanford will treat guests to a multi-course dinner, including wine pairings, featuring local seafood from Loki Fish Co.; Loki founder Pete Knutson will also join the conversation.
Presented by: Town Hall as part of the Civic series, with Belle Clementine. Series supported by The Boeing Company, the RealNetworks Foundation, and the True-Brown Foundation. Series media sponsorship provided by The Stranger and KUOW.
